The case studies below illustrate aspects of the curriculum that schools wanted to improve in relation to developing skills, and how they planned to achieve this. Each case study includes a profile of the school, a rationale for why that aspect of the curriculum was selected, what their priorities are and how they intend to bring about the change.
While the case studies relate to a particular aspect of skills, the plans outlined may have a positive impact on the development of qualities relating to other PLTS, functional skills, curriculum aims and the personal development framework.
PLTS (independent enquirers, self-managers) - Smoothing the path to independent study
PLTS (teamworkers, self-managers, reflective learners) - A new focus on skills
PLTS (effective participators) - Creating a sense of belonging
Functional skills - Developing real-world contexts
