Please find attached the pdf file of the proposed Key Stage 3 Design and technology Programmes of Study for England. This is subject to a consultation as reported on this news page.
NAAIDT's view has been to welcome the increased clarity around the key concepts and key processes, and the stress on the active, 'learn by doing' nature of designing and making in KS3. Additionally the consolidation of the essential knowledge and skills in the Food, Resistant Materials, Textiles and Systems and Control.
There remains particular concern about an element of choice that means students can be excluded from essential elements of the subject when school opt to choose '3 of the 4 Product Areas'.
If you agree or disagree please let me know to contribute to NAAIDTs submission and respond individually to the QCA survey. (Deadline 30 April 2007)
