The QCA Key Stage 3/ 11-19 Skills Attributes Framework Review Consultation is now on the QCA website at the following URL: http://www.qca.org.uk/14932.html
There is a PowerPoint presentation to download that outlines the skill attributes that QCA are proposing are the skills needed of our young people of the future. The questionnaire form itself is available as either word file (attached here too) or rtf file with instructions on how to reply to QCA. The deadline to QCA is 18th November.
Please do engage with this review. Potentially there could be major reforms coming out of this review that could impact on the time given to our subject and the breadth of study. It is vital that the voices of Design and Technology specialists are heard.
I am collating responses for the NAAIDT Executive and will be happy to receive responses or comments from the NAAIDT membership via this e-mail address or fax (number below). So that I can collate an NAAIDT response please get your comments to me by Saturday 12th Nov as I will need to share this with executive members before the QCA submission deadline.

Following the 14–19 Education and Skills White Paper (February 2005) the Secretary of State asked QCA to design a single framework for personal, employability, learning and thinking skills for 11- to 19-year-olds.
This single framework, together with functional English, functional mathematics and functional ICT, will equip young people with the skills they need to be employable and to achieve success in life.
The key areas are
1. Active investigators
2. Creative Contributors
3. Reflective Learners
4. Practical self managers
5. Confident Collaborators
Are these the right skills aspects for the framework?
If so ---- Many subjects will lay a claim to develop these aspects - how do you think we can we demonstrate that Design and Technology is a important and key player here.
