Lesson Context
This is a potential extra-curricular (engineering club)type activity based on the Robot Wars TV series idea but scaled down to make the technology easily accessible.
Steerable buggies controlled and powered through eight-core cable using a science 'power-pack' as the energy source.
There are three classes of 'buggy' (see downloadable file)
Buggies then do battle - races and wrestling.
Resources Needed
Various different methods are used create a buggy usually using the two independently controlled motor principle.
Project Brief
Design and make a steerable buggy that incorporates defence systems.
Expected Outcomes
Very enjoyable activity that is a lot of fun. NOBODY GETS HURT. Pupils take part in Challenges. In 2002 this will take place at the West Midlands Show in Shrewsbury on the 21st and 22 of June.
