Morris Minor
The Morris Minor was launched during Britain's first post-war Motor Show in 1948 although a prototype existed in 1943 (known as the Mosquito). It was designed by a young Alex Issigonis and featured the then novel unitary chassis / body construction but was powered by the pre-war Morris 8 918 c.c. side-valve engine. The car was quickly appreciated for its good handling and ride comfort. In 1960 the Morris Minor became Britain's first production car to sell a million. It remained in production until 1971. Later, Sir Alex Issigonis (knighted in 1969) designed the Mini and distinct similarities can be seen especially when looking at front and rear views of both cars.
