Lesson Context
To design and produce a fabric design, using a range of materials to form a class quilt
Resources Needed
Several metres of fabric
A range of fabric painting materials - inks, pastels, paints
Coloured thread - the brighter the better !
Squared paper for initial designs
Teacher Preparation
The material needs to be cut into 30cm squares. This is the most time consuming aspect. These need to be quite accurate in order for the quilt to work.
Project Brief
The project involves the application of a range of skills in order to reach the final product. Pupils needed to design and produce a fabric design, through a number of different processes.
Design and Manufacture
Firstly a design was produce on squared paper
This was transfered onto fabric
The individual designs were sewn together to form the quilt
Expected Outcomes
A fabric quilt incorporating a number of different designs
