Bagpress.Com manufactures and supplies a full range of vacuum press systems for veneering and laminating flat and curved panels. Typical projects might include skateboards, chair comonents, salad servers, doors, speaker cabinets, clocks and drawer fronts.

The process of vacuum pressing only requires a single mould, which can be made out of Styrofoam, and this dramatically reduces the proportion of time spent making the tooling and increases available production time for the project itself. It also means that making small changes and fine tuning the design is far easier and quicker than if using two solid timber moulds.

The mould and glued up laminations are placed inside a PVC bag which is connected to a vacuum pump. Once the bag has been evacuated atmospheric pressure applies a force of around 7.5tonnes per square metre on whatever is inside the bag and this pressure is maintained until the adhesive has cured. Using a D3 PVA adhesive the cure time is typically 30-60 minutes depending upon the radius being formed and the materials used. With UF resin the cure time would be 2-4 hours. The electric systems are fitted with industrial vacuum pumps and can be left running indefinately.
The standard bag supplied with the electric systems measures 1220mm x 2500mm allowing large objects to be pressed or veneered easily.

Bagpress.Com also supplies a full range of materials for vacuum pressing such as flexible plywood, thin birch plywood, adhesives, glue spreaders,
mould making foam and many other accessories. Our One Shot Safe-T-Mix Urea Formaldehyde resin adhesive is supplied in a two-part sealed pouch and can be mixed without exposing the user to ant potentially harmful airborne particulate. Once mixed, the corner can be cut off of the pouch and the mixed resin squeezed out.

Bagpress will also be stocking a range of specialist timber materials for use with laser cutting systems such as birch plywood, veneered MDF and thin strips of solid wood in a variety of species.

Bagpress.Com runs a free veneer scheme which offers schools and colleges who are ordering equipment or other materials the opportunity to receive a pack of veneer offcuts completely free of charge. These can measure up to 1200mm x 300mm and are usually supplied as sequential leaves allowing bookmatching of the veneer grain patterns. Although mainly consisting of the common species such as oak, ash, cherry, maple, sapele and beech there are also smaller volumes of more exotic species such as walnut, santos rosewood, birdseye maple and various burrs.

Bagpress.Com is happy to arrange for demonstrations at local D&T meetings and welcomes visitors to our factory in Letchworth. Training courses are available either in Letchworth or on School premises.
